From topic to research question
A final thesis needs a coherent research structure and a clear connection between chapters. Start by defining the scope, identifying the relevant research gap and developing research questions or hypotheses that the study can actually address.
Literature review and theoretical framework
A literature review requires critical synthesis, rather than a sequence of article summaries. Depending on the subject, the work may need a theoretical or conceptual framework, definitions of variables or constructs, and evidence for the proposed relationships.
Methodology and analysis
Questionnaires, sampling, coding, SPSS, hypothesis testing and interpretation.
Interviews, interview guides, transcription, coding and thematic analysis.
Focused or systematic reviews, selection criteria and synthesis of findings.
Combining quantitative and qualitative evidence when this serves the research question.
Discussion and conclusions
The discussion interprets the results rather than simply repeating them. It explains what the findings mean, how they relate to earlier studies, what limitations apply and what theoretical or practical contribution the research makes.
